Drain blockages rarely clear themselves - they get worse
A slow-draining sink is a blockage forming. A toilet that burps when you run the washing machine is the main run restricted. A gulley with standing water is weeks from backing into the kitchen. The cheapest time to deal with a blockage is before it becomes an overflow.
Classic early warning signs
- Water taking longer to drain away from a sink, bath or shower
- Gurgling sound when water drains, or when another fitting is used
- Bad smell from a plughole, overflow or outside gulley
- Toilet flush backing up or rising higher than normal
- Waste appearing in a different fitting (e.g. shower tray fills when toilet flushes)
- Standing water in an outside gulley or over a manhole cover
- Flies or insects appearing near waste pipes or drain covers
- Previously cleared drain blocking again within a few months

- Quick diagnosis on arrival. Is it a single fitting or the main run? Tree roots? Fat? A foreign object? The answer changes which tool we use first - and how long it'll take.
- Start with the least invasive method. Plunger, then manual rodding, then a hand-drill auger for trap blockages. Three-quarters of household blockages clear before we bring out the jetter.
- Escalate if needed. High-pressure water jetting for the stubborn ones - fat build-up, wet-wipe masses, silt. Enough force to fully clear, controlled enough not to damage older pipework.
- Run a CCTV camera after any deep clear. Confirms the run is clear, and flags anything else that needs watching - a sagged section, a root, a misaligned joint. Footage shared with you.
- Tell you why it blocked. A blockage is a symptom. We'll tell you whether it's a habit issue (wipes, fats), a design issue (undersized trap, bad fall) or a structural issue (collapsed section) - and what to do about it.
- Leave it clean. We carry proper waste bags and cleaner. The drain is clear, your kitchen isn't soaked, and the bathroom doesn't smell when we go.
